Coffee Shop AU album cover.

I’ve been to many coffee shops, all generally the same
In this case, I am afraid variety’s to blame
I’ve never hit a cafe twice
And for it now I’ve paid the price
And what a lot to sacrifice
But hey, you knew how to spell my name
Yeah, you knew how to spell my name

Our meet cute was sinister
The coffee was savory
Latte foam a pentagram
Your name tag read Avery (hello, my name is Avery)

This is my coffee shop AU
My favorite writing trope
What a weird thing to do
Think my heart is skipping rope

So I came back for the first time
And I guess that was the worst crime
But you were there again
I got in line and then (and then)
You handed me a drink I didn’t order
Left the coffee grounds in and you read them like tea leaves
Told me my future
Put your hand on my shoulder
Said, “Meet me here tonight
There’s something we must do
After dark is that alright?”
I said yes because

This is my coffee shop AU (I work at this coffee shop)
I’m living out this writing trope (let’s live out a trope)
Who knows what we’ll get up to?
While we walk this slippery slope

We summoned a demon with a dark roast and a double shot espresso
A pentagram of coffee grounds
Yes I know how bad that sounds
Dried blood and coffee stain the walls while melting candles drip wax all over
Lights flicker off and on
Paranormal phenomenon
The bitter scent of burning brews mingling with the lingering trace of sulfur
Séance of the dead and gone
Of course we raised up hellspawn (oh my God we raised up hellspawn)
Hate to admit it but I ran away real quick and my barista didn’t follow
Didn’t want to be possessed
Got some holy water blessed

This is my coffee shop AU
My favorite writing trope
If there’s a god I can pray to
Hurry up ’cause I can’t cope (she’s losing hope)

My coffee shop AU
You’ve read this one before
Moving on to genre two
I think that this is war

I saw the skull of Avery sitting on a shelf at Starbucks
Next to the bookstore, coulda swore
Got a sense of déjà vu I can’t ignore, living in the redux
Eye sockets start to glow a burning red and I knew I was dead
I got my one-way ticket to the picket fence or fire thicket in the scripture
They draw me closer and I know
They’ll go and overthrow my logic, sense, and reasoning
Feel my defenses weakening
One step, then two; the walking isn’t vigorous
I’m in the building blocking out baristas baking in their ignorance
While I pull an Icarus
Black out but it doesn’t make a difference

This is my coffee shop AU
I’ve been taken in
By this demon that is you
And I’ve fallen into sin

This is my coffee shop AU
My favorite writing trope
There’s no god I can pray to
Not in hell do I have a hope
